Fox ESS Schedule Settings
In the EnergyDroid app, go to the Schedule tab and tap the Strategy button. This opens a screen where you can customise how the automation works for your inverter and batteries.
Key Settings
Sync Enabled
You'll want this turned on. It tells the app to take control of your inverter's schedule.
Force Charge During Off Peak
Enables filling your battery during Intelligent Octopus Go's 11:30pm to 5:30am off-peak period.
Force Discharge Surplus During Peak
This is one of the main features of the app. When enabled, the app will automatically discharge whatever is left of your battery at the end of the 5:30am to 11:30pm peak period — as close to 11:30pm as possible, without your battery running out too early.
Feed In or Self Use
We recommend Self Use. This uses solar production (if you have solar panels) to charge the battery first and only exports to the grid when your battery reaches 100%. It prioritises having a full battery.
Feed In will export solar production straight to the grid without using it to charge your battery.
EV Charging Work Mode
If you have a Shelly energy monitor attached to your EV charger (which is optional), the EV Charging Work Mode setting controls what happens when your EV is charging:
Force Charge
Automatically charges your battery when the EV is charging. Both your EV charger and your home use mains electricity, plus you charge your Fox battery with the cheap electricity.
Self Use
Uses the battery for some or all of the EV charging.
Backup
Stops the battery from discharging. Your EV charger and your house will both use electricity from the grid.
